Abba's Child challenges the reader to realize that the Christian faith is much more than a call to a system of belief of Absolute Truths-----and that it is a call to the most important Relationship of our lives, our God; our Father.

This book will remind you that the Gospel is a relationship, not a "plan of salvation" to know, memorize and regurgitate.

Bevere encourages us to get to KNOW JESUS not to get to know about Him. When You KNOW Him - you would KNOW the fear of the Lord.

Books from previous years...

Here's our first recommended read for 2006/2007. The Purpose-Driven Life will help you understand why you are alive and God’s amazing plan for you—both here and now, and for eternity. Rick Warren will guide you through a personal 40-day spiritual journey that will transform your answer to life’s most important question: What on earth am I here for? Knowing God’s purpose for creating you will reduce your stress, focus your energy, simplify your decisions, give meaning to your life, and, most importantly, prepare you for eternity. This is the second of this year's books. In this frank and personal exploration of five key issues which many Christians struggle with (believing, commitment, intimacy, suffering and church), Rob Frost shares different aspects of his personal journey towards a mature faith. Many young Christians would be saved a lot of heartache if they were given this book sooner rather than later...and many older Christians will find material here which might help them to cope with some of their most difficult times. Here's our first recommended read for 2005/2006. Every moment of your life is like a page in a Where's Waldo book. God is there, the Scriptures tell us — on every one of them. But the ease with which he may be found varies from one page to the next. God is closer than you think! If you click here and buy the book, Strandtown receives part of the price back. This is the second of this year's books. The acclaimed speaker and Bible teacher combines the apostle John's description of Heaven from Revelation with reflections of her own father's mountain home to offer hope and encouragement to those who are fearful of death. Discover more about the relationship there can be between you and God in this book. If you click here and buy the book, Strandtown receives part of the price back. And it's so much easier than searching for it yourself!

This is the second of this year's books. It's not a guide to dealing with difficult people. It starts from the precept that you're not perfect either, and so deals with how one imperfect person can get along with another! Thank God it's Monday by Mark Greene

I was given this book at Christmas 1994, and although I browsed through it briefly, I'm a bit ashamed to admit that it has taken me 8 years (and a surf through www.graduateimpact.com) to read it properly. The opening pages grabbed my attention because they confirmed what I always believed: that our ministry as Christians is not restricted to church but that God CAN and DOES use us in ALL WALKS of LIFE - at home, at work, at leisure and at church. Mark Greene writes, "more teenagers are likely to end up as family people with secular jobs than as full time ministers in a church".

The book holds no punches; some of the stories are about success and others are about failure - God working with ORDINARY people. Sometimes in our striving for perfection (Philippians 3v12-14), we forget we are still human beings (Gal 3v3), we have limitations (Isaiah 40v30), we all have different gifts (Rom 12v6-8).

When I became a Christian 36 years ago, I asked the Lord, "Help me to be the person that you want me to be" and time has not changed that prayer - it can't - if I truly want to achieve my potential in Christ. BUT, that doesn't mean that it is all plain sailing - "anyone who does not take up his cross and follow me is not worthy of me" (Matt 10v38). God's solution? - "Take my yoke upon you and LEARN FROM ME, ----you will FIND REST for your souls" (Matt 11v29-30).

For final year students and recent graduates, or any Christian, I recommend you to read this book - it will help you to see through GOD'S EYES about your potential MINISTRY in GOD'S WORKPLACE.
